New - How do you get a guy to like you?

OK, I need you guys' help. I'm currently filling out an application for AmeriCorps and, as one might expect, I'm stuck on the mission statement (4000 character limit):
"Why do you want to join AmeriCorps? What could you contribute to AmeriCorps? What do you hope to gain from serving as an AmeriCorps member?"
And here's what I have so far:
From the time I was in junior high, I have enjoyed spending time in the summer helping others. I would volunteer in various areas, doing everything from restocking medical supply rooms to tutoring to preparing meals for the residents of the homeless overflow shelter held at my Friends Meeting once a month. However, as I got older I realized that I wanted to spend some time truly dedicating my life to helping others. At first I thought the only option would be to serve in the military, which clashed with my pacifistic beliefs, and so I for a period that particular hope laid dormant. A couple of months ago, however, my dad informed me of two programs for long-term community service: the Peace Corps, and AmeriCorps. I spent some time researching both programs, and though I would love to work abroad, I found that the majority of Peace Corps opportunities required at least a bachelor's degree, and I have barely begun my freshman year."
So... What could I contribute to AmeriCorps, and more importantly, how do I put this into paragraph form? Any help would be much appreciated, ^_^
